
Coupled with the celebrated Mari and James A. Michener Gallery Building, the new Smith Building marks the completion of the Blanton complex, making it the largest university museum in the United States.
The Smith Building houses a number of visitor amenities including a full-service café; an expanded museum shop; a state-of-the-art auditorium; and three classrooms for educational and hands–on activities. It also is home to the administrative offices of the Blanton staff.

The new Blanton Café offers visitors a relaxing spot in which to enjoy a variety of hot and cold sandwiches, gourmet flat bread pizzas, fresh-tossed salads, signature desserts, salads, and of course, coffee drinks and smoothies. The café's savory menu complements a visit to the museum, or serves as a special place to meet friends for lunch.
Hours
The Café will be open until 9 PM on Third Thursday evenings, and until 10:30 PM during B scene.
The newly expanded Museum Shop houses treasures as varied as those in the Blanton's collection. Visit the new 1,700 square foot space for a special selection of books, cards, jewelry, glassware and other artful treasures.

The Blanton's 299–seat auditorium is the primary space in which the museum will host a variety of public programs. Equipped with the latest in audio/visual technology, the auditorium will provide space for lectures by visiting scholars, curators, artists, and faculty; symposia; film screenings; concerts; docent training; and more.
