Discover the mind-bending world of the exquisite corpse at the Blanton Museum! The exquisite corpse was inspired by the surrealist journey to the subconscious through literary and later visual thoughts of several minds brought together to form a single work. A word game ignited the idea in Paris, 1925, when the first compiled phrase was, “Le cadavre exquis boira le vin nouveau." ("The exquisite corpse shall drink the new wine.")
Explore the mind of artist James Drake in the new exhibition, James Drake: Anatomy of Drawing and Space (Brain Trash). Bringing the party to life will be the Dead Music Capital Band, who will provide some macabre music mashups that will boggle your brains. Later, THAT Damn Band will scare up some exquisite corpses on the dance floor with their phantasmagoric musical stylings.
Join in on all the fun at B scene by taking a tour of the exhibition, creating some exquisite corpse art with Shea Little of EAST and Big Medium, devouring a bite (of food), imbibing a cocktail, and finding your dark groove on the dance floor. Advance copies of the 2014 E.A.S.T. catalogue will be available.
And now you can add this to the list of Blanton member perks: B scene is now FREE for all members!
