The Community Conversations series is designed to invite consideration of Vincent Valdez’s The City through close looking, understanding of the artist’s process and intentions, and wide-ranging conversation about racism in our society.  Two facilitatorsa Blanton staff member and community leader–will frame the discussion and encourage thoughtful conversation with a group of visitors interested in dialogue.  Each session will last about 45 minutes and will be limited to 50 participants.*

★Please check in with our Visitor Services Desk at least 10-15 minutes before the program begins due to limited capacity.★

This event will be facilitated by Veronica Roberts, Curator, Modern and Contemporary Art, Blanton Museum and our Community Partner Latreese Cooke, Executive Director, MELJ Center (Minorities for Equality in Economy, Education, Liberty and Justice), Austin.

Included with museum admission; Free for members and UT students, faculty, and staff.

The Blanton is located at the intersection of Congress Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Paid parking is available in the Brazos Garage on Brazos Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Parking is $4; bring your ticket with you to the museum.


*The Community Conversation on Thursday, September 20, will be limited to 25 participants.
