Join us for some mid-SXSW inspiration during a full free day of art & art-related activities!

Our full line-up:
12:30pm-1:00pm ~ Public Tour: Form into Spirit: Ellsworth Kelly’s “Austin”
Explore Austin’s four main motifs: Spectrum, Black and White, Color Grid, and Totem, at this companion exhibition.
5:30-6:15pm ~ Beat the Rush: Density512 present Arcana
Skip the ATX traffic and experience this unique program for emerging artists. Inspired by Varese’s Octandre, Density512’s premiere ensemble, Arcana, presents its first performance in collaboration with the Blanton Museum of Art. Density512 assistant director, Nicholas Perry Clark, uses the extensive sound world offered by the ensemble of winds and double bass to reimagine classic octets by Stravinsky, Varèse, and Holst, alongside 21st-century octets.
7:30-8:00pm ~ Slow Looking
Enjoy a thoughtful and relaxed 30-minute conversation about a single work of art on view at the museum.
And don’t miss our current exhibition”Form into Spirit: Ellsworth Kelly’s ‘Austin'” which provides conceptual origins on the monumental permanent building now open to the public.
Museum admission is always free on Thursdays. On the third Thursday of each month, the museum remains open until 9 pm.
