What is our place in the cosmos? Could life exist elsewhere?

Artists have long looked to the Moon, planets, and stars as sources of inspiration. Drawn from the Blanton’s collection, Stargazing brings together modern and contemporary artists from the Americas and Europe whose works address space exploration through science and the creative imagination. Some focus on scientific discoveries in astronomy and space travel, while others wonder about extraterrestrial worlds, drawing from science fiction. Intertwined is a deeper concern about humanity’s place in our vast universe.
