Event Details
Join us for this special public program in conjunction with our exhibition Making Africa: A Continent of Contemporary Design. Making Africa speaks to the power of designers to imagine new futures, just as it reveals the long reach of imperialism and an increasingly dynamic design dialogue between situated regional designers and diasporic practitioners. Our guest speaker for this event will be Kate Catterall, Professor from the UT School of Design and Creative Technologies. This event will take place within the exhibition in our Butler gallery space.
Admission is free on Thursdays. The Blanton is located at the intersection of Congress Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
Paid parking is available in the Brazos Garage on Brazos Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Parking is $4; bring your ticket with you to the museum.
ABOUT KATE CATTERALL
Kate Catterall is a designer and educator from Belfast, Northern Ireland, arguably one of the last colonial outposts of the British Empire! She views Making Africa through the lens of contemporary American culture, a euro-centric history of design and current speculative design practices.
