FREE Public Workshop: Group Call

2018sat27jan1:00 pmsat3:00 pmFREE Public Workshop: Group CallHosted by SoundSpace Artist-in-Residence Sarah Mendelsohn

Event Details

In this workshop we’ll consider the use of cell phones in contemporary art.

What does it mean that our phones help us listen while listening to us—and how do ecologies of rare-earth extraction and mass surveillance affect us as performers, producers, and as an audience? Using our voices and phones, we will create a chorus and listen to ourselves as a group.

This event will be led by Soundspace artist-in-residence, Sarah Mendelsohn. Learn more about her work here → http://smendelsohn.net/

Please meet in the museum atrium and bring a working cell phone.

*If you wish to visit the museum before or after the event, you will need to check-in with our Visitor’s Service Desk to pay admission (free for members and UT students, faculty, and staff).

The Blanton is located at the intersection of Congress Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
