Did you know the average museum visitor spends only 15 to 30 seconds looking at a work of art? But if you choose to slow down — to find an artwork that speaks to you and observe it for minutes rather than seconds — you are more likely to connect with the art, the person you are touring the galleries with, and maybe even yourself.
Join Siobhán McCusker, museum educator for university audiences, for a virtual Slow Looking Art Experience. Together, we will explore artworks from the Blanton’s Collection that are seldom on view, by slowing down and using playful and creative observation strategies. The more we look, the more we see.
No experience is necessary: you will need a few sheets of paper, a pencil, and a curious mind. Space is limited, so reserve your place in the class today! Register for one virtual class or more!
