ART: In The Museum Galleries (Michener Gallery Building)
Butler, Paper Vault, Contemporary Project, Film & Video galleries: Don’t miss our special exhibitions Forces of Nature: Ancient Maya Art from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and If the Sky Were Orange: Art in the Time of Climate Change. Don’t forget to stop by gallery feature Unbreakable: Feminist Visions from the Gilberto Cárdenas and Dolores Garcia Collection & explore the new installation Weird Winter (this installation extends to our Smith Building).
FAMILY ACTIVITY (Michener Gallery Building)
3pm-6pm Holiday Card Making – Get creative and make your own holiday cards! Come to our art-making station next to the Gallery Building entrance and make a card to send or give to a loved one. Open to visitors of all ages.
In The American Art Galleries (Michener Gallery Building)
4pm – Curator’s Choice: Claire Howard. Associate Curator of Collections and Exhibitions Claire Howard will discuss the work Sugar Shack by Ernie Barnes, on loan from Bill and Lara Perkins.
In The Capitol Room (Smith Building)
6pm – Art with an Expert: Take a deep dive into art, art histories, and more with these hour-long talks presented by distinguished art professionals. Hear Steve Parker — renowned Austin artist, musician, and longtime Blanton collaborator — discuss his whimsical Weird Winter and wider artistic practice with Hannah Klemm, Blanton Curator of Modern & Contemporary Art.

5pm – Superfónicos
BITES & BEVS: Pack a picnic or enjoy a complimentary cookie station and hot chocolate bar, courtesy of H-E-B in our Smith Building. Eleven 30 Wines will also have beverages available for purchase.

PARKING / TRANSPORT: Parking is available in the Brazos Garage. Normal rates can be paid directly at the garage. (Blanton Members get a $4 discounted rate at Check-In, valid all day). Ride-shares can drop off in the new Museum Drop-Off on the east side of the museum. Bicycle racks are available on the south side of Jester Center and on the west side of the museum’s Smith Administration Building. Public transit is encouraged; Cap Metro bus routes 1, 3, 7, 10, 18, 19, 20, 801, and 803 have stops within walking distance.
