Morninglight in Austin

Morninglight in Austin

Ticket & Visitor Info

“I hope visitors will experience ‘Austin’ as a place of calm and light…Go there and rest your eyes, rest your mind.”

Ellsworth Kelly (May 31, 1923 – December 27, 2015)

From May 2023 to May 2024, people across the globe are honoring the centennial of this renowned American artist. In celebration of 100 Years of Ellsworth Kelly, you’re invited to experience his most momentous artwork like never before — as the Blanton opens Austin’s doors early — and stand beneath its luminous windows.

During Morninglight, you’ll step inside Austin before it opens to the public, in the early hours when winter’s light fills the space. Director of Education and Academic Affairs Ray Williams will share insight into Kelly and his masterpiece before guiding the small group through mindful reflections, poetry, and quiet contemplation in this peaceful, joyful space.

Light morning refreshments in the Blanton’s Smith Building will be provided.
