Curator-led Gallery Talk
Lily Cox-Richard: She-Wolf + Lower Figs.
Join Claire Howard, Assistant Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, for a special tour of Lily Cox-Richard: She-Wolf + Lower Figs. in our Contemporary Project space. Sculptor Lily Cox-Richard presents new work that responds to the history and materiality of the Blanton’s William J. Battle Collection of Plaster Casts—a set of nineteenth-century replicas of ancient Greek and Roman sculptures. Using both modern 3D scanning technology and a centuries-old, colorful imitation marble technique, Cox-Richard’s work subverts the myth of classical sculptures’ whiteness and proposes a different future for these objects.
Included with museum admission. The Blanton is located at the intersection of Congress Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
Paid parking is available in the Brazos Garage on Brazos Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Parking is $4; bring your ticket with you to the museum.
