Event Details

Enjoy another late night at the museum as part of our ’Fridays Late Till 8’ series! Drop by our museum shop to peruse our gift selection and enjoy some refreshments from our café in between art gazing.

Composer Akshaya Avril Tucker will present a concert of new works titled ’Saath: Strung Together,’ performed in our museum atrium (the Audre and Bernard Rapoport Atrium) at 6pm.  The concert will feature local string quartet invoke, Bay-Area cellist Robert Howard, and local violinist Sean Riley, who will be performing on a 6-string electric violin. The program takes inspiration from Tucker’s years of study of Classical Indian Odissi dance, and her passion for chamber music; she is also a cellist. Themes of spiritual and cultural unity (’saath’ means ’together’ in Hindi) pervade the works, through intimate and poetic narratives celebrating the female experience.

This event is included in the price of admission. Free for members and UT students, faculty, and staff.

The Blanton is located at the intersection of Congress Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.  Paid parking is available in the Brazos Garage on Brazos Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Parking is $4; bring your ticket with you to the museum for payment and validation.
