Art on View (Michener Gallery Building)
Explore a wide variety of galleries & don’t miss these special exhibitions:
3:30pm-5pm & 6pm-7:30pm – Japanese Woodblock Printing with Artist Daryl Howard (Michener Gallery Building)
Trained in Japan in traditional woodblock printing techniques, Austin-based artist Daryl Howard has been making woodblock prints for over forty years. Learn why Howard has dedicated herself to this technically demanding print process and watch while she inks, registers, and produces a multi-color woodblock print. Afterward, try your hand at inking a woodblock and take home a print of your own (while supplies last)!
4pm – Curator’s Choice: Hannah Klemm discusses Marie Watt (Michener Gallery Building)
Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art Hannah Klemm will be discussing the installation by Marie Watt in the Contemporary Project space.
4:15pm-4:45pm – Austin Japanese Minyo Dance Group (Moody Patio)
Austin Japanese Minyo Dance Group will make an appearance, performing on our Moody Patio.
5pm – Art with an Expert: Dr. Sarah Thompson, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (Capitol Room, Smith Building)
Learn more about the Japanese woodblock prints on view in The Floating World from Dr. Sarah Thompson, curator of Japanese art at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston. A specialist in Japanese prints, Dr. Thompson’s talk will expand on the ingenuity and intriguing subjects of ukiyo-e.
Live Music (Moody Patio)
We’re excited to welcome back DJ Lauren Light performing a set on our Moody Patio.
BITES & BEVS: Food by Flyrite Chicken will be available for purchase, as well as drinks for purchase by Haymaker, or pack a picnic!

PARKING / TRANSPORT: Parking is available in the Brazos Garage. Normal rates can be paid directly at the garage. (Blanton Members get a $4 discounted rate at Check-In, valid all day). Ride-shares can drop off in the new Museum Drop-Off on the east side of the museum. Bicycle racks are available on the south side of Jester Center and on the west side of the museum’s Smith Administration Building. Public transit is encouraged; Cap Metro bus routes 1, 3, 7, 10, 18, 19, 20, 801, and 803 have stops within walking distance.
